The EHS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating EHS programs across the Northern California region and sites, helping ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and effective risk management. The vision for Illumina is that every Illumina employee will be a leader in EHS. The EHS Coordinator is an individual contributor and will play a role in helping Illumina to achieve this vision through high engagement and empowerment with our employees.
All About You
Coordinating the Illumina Northern California EHS team and performing a variety of coordination and administration EHS duties.
You will also be given the opportunity to challenge yourself and take on additional responsibilities within the team including risk assessments; incident reporting and conducting investigations, or other EHS program coordination.
Coordinating general health and safety arrangements and activities across Illumina’s Northern California region.
Liaising with key internal customers and vendors – monitoring, providing support, advice and expertise to operational teams at all levels.
Managing, tracking and updating EHS records/documentation.
Presentations to internal customers, teams as required.
Production and distribution of EHS metrics/reports and other internal and external EHS reporting needs including operational excellence reporting.
Coordinating and conducting training as appropriate (e.g. new hire inductions).
Promoting and supporting the EHS and sustainability culture.
Coordinating instructor-led EHS training.
Working closely with internal customers to resolve EHS policy queries.
Supporting and coordinating pre and post-move EHS requirements for new site projects.
Managing EHS financial and administrative requirements including Purchase Order/Invoice reconciliation, working closely with Manager on budget tracking.
EHS contract management and coordination.
Organizing and conducting risk assessments as required and ensuring they meet legal requirements.
Working with operational teams to carry out root-cause analysis and investigations and coordinating / implementing corrective measures.
Carrying out safety inspections and managing the inspection program.
Maintain regional action plans against EHS compliance management programs.
Lead and coordinate local Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability communication campaigns and celebration events.
Preferred experience and qualifications:
Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
Used to working in a fast pace environment.
Excellent IT skills.
An interest in EHS requirements and EHS career path.
Experience of working in a regulated/scientific environment.
Experience in auditing and risk assessments and implementing and maintaining Health & Safety systems is highly desirable.
