**Position Title** HSE Specialist 5

**AECOM is seeking a HSE Specialist 5 to be based in our Pittsburgh, PA location.**
Senior process safety specialist responsible for leading hazard identification and analyses of laboratory- to bench-scale research and development (R&D) activities using a formal “What-If?” approach at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Pittsburgh, PA. This position reports to the R&D SARS Supervisor, but will also function independently under the federal ES&H site representative to meet the goals and objective of the R&D project/laboratory permitting process carefully following internal procedures.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (safety, chemical, or Industrial), safety, or physical science (chemistry, physics, or geology). Masters degree preferred
10 years of position related experience
Process safety experience in industrial or R&D laboratory setting.
Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen.
Advanced degree in safety or other technical field.
Professional certification (PE or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)).
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated, progressive experience conducting and leading formal hazard analysis reviews (HAR) using a “What-If” or other structured approaches such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, or Hazard and Operability Analysis.
Application of HAR in a research and development setting preferred.
Formal training in hazard analysis techniques preferred.
