Spire Inc. is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Specialist
to work in our Wyoming storage field operation. This position will assist the Director, Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance to provide professional technical services so that Company activities, locations, equipment, and records related to environmental compliance and health and safety are maintained to Company standards and in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and health and safety regulations.  Employee will also assist with compliance of federal, state and local pipeline safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local environmental, health and safety, and pipeline safety regulations
Act as Company contact for all environmental, health and safety, and pipeline safety regulatory entities
Develop and revise environmental, health and safety, and pipeline safety procedures and emergency plans
Coordinate employee safety audits
Investigate and review employee safety incidents and determine root cause parameters and analyze findings and reports to decide if further action is needed 
Coordinate the selection process for purchasing Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., fire suits, respirators, gloves, hard hats, safety glasses) 
Prepare material and conduct safety and environmental training for employees pertaining to Company safety and environmental procedures, programs and standards
Obtain environmental permits and complete required regulatory submittals as needed for the Company to conduct its operations in an environmentally compliant manner
Manage and arrange for disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous and universal wastes generated by the Company
Manage environmental projects to include research, design, scheduling, construction oversight and preparing requests for bid proposals
Inspect Company facilities for compliance with environmental and related regulations and provide recommendations for any needed corrective or preventive actions
Respond to and investigate environmental incidents
Provide support for the Company’s pipeline safety initiatives, inspections and regulatory reporting and documentation processes
Assist and implement process changes to enhance the Company’s compliance with pipeline safety rules
Support the company’s transmission and underground storage integrity programs
Ability to lead by example in support of the Company’s essential characteristics and values: strong ethics and integrity, dedication to a safe work environment, commitment to a diverse workforce that recognizes and respects every individual’s unique skills and perspectives

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None, though this position specifies, arranges and coordinates the work of outside contractors
Required Education and (may include certifications, licenses and registrations)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Safety Management, or Environmental Sciences required
5 years of relevant gas industry work experience
Respirator protection qualification preferred
OSHA HAZWOPER training certification
DOT HAZMAT training certification preferred
OSHA 10-hour certification; First Aid, CPR, AED certification       
Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Knowledge of and the ability to apply PHMSA, EPA, OSHA and applicable state and local regulations
Ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals used by the Company to assess potential, associated risk to employees and recommend appropriate protective measures to be taken
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing culture
Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and establish rapport with a diverse array of people
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in order to meet individual goals and deadlines
Ability to work as part of a team and display a positive attitude for this dynamic environment
Physical demands, work environment and work schedule:
Normal office conditions with periodic field visits
Moderate travel
Moderate outdoor work in potentially severe weather
Regularly on-call for incident evaluation and response
Typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
Moderate additional hours per month may be required for off-hour audits or to attend after-hours meetings
