Ensure site complies with safety and environmental regulations and permit conditions.
Assist with H&S record keeping and ensure timely submission of periodic reports to regulatory agencies
Assist regional environmental manager to complete environmental permits
Utilize internal reporting database to collect H&S data and drive continuous improvement
In accordance with OSHA regulations, identifies common safety and health hazards and establishes guidelines for protection against hazards.
Monitors existing and potential safety and health concerns and recommends priorities for resolution.
Assist and/or lead emergency response activities following spills and releases
Act as primary contact with regulatory authorities
Operational H&S Management to include:
Prioritize major hazards and risks at the site, and ensure actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks
Assist and/or lead incident investigations and participate in management review of all serious incidents
Lead, coordinate, and participate in H&S performance improvement initiatives
Provide leadership and guidance to plant H&S committees
Participates in annual budget development process with site leadership team
Auditing & Management Systems
Lead self-audits and coordinate external H&S audits conducted at the site and partner with division and/or site management to close audit findings and implement audit recommendations
Provide guidance to site in identifying and tracking appropriate metrics and assessing site performance
Implement and maintain H&S management systems in support of the Hexion Process Safety Management policies
Support community outreach as required
Develop, review, and adjust Health and Safety training programs
Train associates on requirements and procedures for H&S compliance
Leadership & Capability Building
Conduct regular reviews with site leadership and prioritize H&S issues
Act as an interface between regional H&S and the facility
Coordinate safety training sessions with the site
Lead the H&S training effort
At least 3 years’ experience in the safety field or relevant experience in resin manufacturing.
Must be familiar with safety principals and regulations as well as OSHA Process Safety Management regulations
Should possess strong leadership, training, problem solving, and decision making skills
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
Should have strong oral and written communication skills in English and in the local language
Logical/strategic thinking and strong execution skills
Analytical skill & Six Sigma skills
Degree in a relevant field and/or related training & experience
Safety Certifications such as:
OSHA Hazwoper 40 Hour Training
OSHA Forklift Safety
OSHA Hazard Communication Program
OSHA Accident Investigation
OSHA Safety Committee Basic Training
OSHA Conducting a JHA
OSHA Identifying and Controlling Hazards
OSHA 300 Record Keeping
OSHA Train the Trainer
OSHA Safety and Health Program Evaluation
OSHA Lockout/Tagout and Machine Safe Guarding
OSHA Confined Space Safety
OSHA Exposure Control / Bloodborne
