SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is funded by a federal grant that has been funded since 1980. Responsibilities include assisting workplace employer safety by providing a broad range of safety, health, risk management, and other loss prevention services on a consulting basis to North Dakota employers. Directly accountable and responsible to the OSHA Consultation Program Manager. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene or occupational safety and health, or related field and 1 year of safety related experience; or the equivalent of 8 years directly related experience. Working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations (OSHA) pertaining to safety and health. Working knowledge of OSHA required industrial safety and health programs. Ability to work effectively, professionally, and courteously with others both internal and external to the division. Proficient with computer software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail and electronic calendar) and good keyboarding skills. Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work. Must be dependable, flexible, and resourceful as business needs arise. Must be a motivated self-starter, with the ability to resolve most problems independently. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent written communication skills. Valid driveru2019s license and must be able to drive a State vehicle. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a comparable position. COMPENSATION: $42,000 based on directly related experience. May be eligible for a salary increase after six months.
