General OverviewAt a senior level, administers safety programs and provides safety leadership. Assesses programs and serves as a key contributor to research, development and implementation of safety policies and procedures. Performs complex incident investigations. Develops and conducts safety meetings and safety training. Maintains records and prepares reports. This position utilizes in-depth knowledge of best practices and experience in own discipline to provide and improve services. Takes a new perspective to solve complex problems. Works independently and receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May direct the work of other staff members. - Provides safety consultation and serves as a safety and health resource for LCRA staff. Provides guidance regarding worker\u2019s compensation reporting and other safety reports.- Develops, coordinates and conducts safety orientations, safety training, health training and monthly / quarterly safety meetings. Maintains training records.- Performs safety and health inspections and audits.- Leads and performs complex incident investigations, including documentation, tracking and reporting. May assist with LCRA investigations of large-scale incidents. - Serves as a key contributor to research, development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.- Provides health- and safety-related project support. Prepares health and safety plans for LCRA projects. - Reviews and analyzes trends and deviations from LCRA policy. Prepares reports and makes recommendations regarding corrective actions.- Maintains knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Makes recommendations regarding the adoption and implementation of new policies. - Leads and coordinates the development and/or enhancements of internal safety manuals.- May coordinate medical monitoring activities and schedule employees for testing.- Performs work by traveling independently or with other staff to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as scheduled. Minimum QualificationsNine or more years of experience in administration of industrial safety and/or health programs, utility industry (mechanical and/or electrical), safety training or compliance including providing guidance, leadership or formal/informal instruction to staff. A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, health and safety, education or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience. Significant safety experience within power generation facilities desired.
Extensive safety experience within industrial facilities required.
Advanced level knowledge in OSHA safety regulation including their identification and application
Extensive experience in incident investigation required
