Provide Colonial with Safety subject matter expertise to facilitate and promote enhanced Safety awareness through application of Safety processes and achievement of established Safety objectives.
Present a positive image of health and safety to foster cooperative relationships, motivating and influencing individuals to value and take personal ownership of safety. Engender safety awareness, trust and commitment. Connect with the workforce to communicate the importance of safety and to positively influence compliance with safety objectives. Coordinate, support and promote company safety areas of emphasis. Maintain proficiency in safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, ACGIH, API, Etc.).
Conducts daily work in compliance with Colonial’s safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates Colonial’s core values of Safety, Personal Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork in completing work assignments.

Supervise District Safety: (25%)
Supervise the district Safety Specialists:
Set direction for the achievement of company objectives, Safety Department goals, and district initiatives. Assist Manager of Safety by developing District Safety Specialist performance objectives. Counsel, develop, and assess employee work performance and provide feedback. Participate in the selection, hiring and training of new staff & administering time & attendance, development, etc.).
Manage District Safety Training Program
: Oversee and ensure
delivery of district-based safety training to meet Colonial safety training requirements. Schedule and track training attendance and completion and provide feedback to enhance training. Work with Training Services Team in the development of training programs as necessary
Job Site Visits: (40%)
Complete and document construction and maintenance worksite inspections. Work with employees and contractors to address any exceptions found during the inspections. Conduct critical work assessments and behavior based observations as directed. Communicate findings to District Safety Supervisor. Complete and document facility inspections. Communicate findings and make recommendations for correction, and follow-up with Supervisor, local Operations, and others to ensure successful resolution of outstanding inspection issues.
: Provide safety expertise by observing construction and maintenance worksite conditions, equipment and worker behavior to ensure safety and security procedures and regulations are followed. Attend pre-job safety meetings/kickoffs. Review and provide guidance during the development of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Project Safety Plans as needed.
Provide Safety Training
Provide instructor lead training on safety training requirements including: initial safety orientation, annual safety training, OSHA required training
Incident Analysis & MOC (10%)
Facilitate Safety incident analysis (IA’s) as required for reported incidents. Advise OM’s on all Tier 1 incidents, lead Tier 2,3,& 4 incidents as assigned)
Responsible for area MOCs to ensure: changes to equipment, procedures or process safety information, are assessed for new or modified hazards. Ensure changes are effectively
Emergency Response (5%):
Respond to emergencies at assigned level within in the District Emergency Spill Response plan and Spill Management Team.
Develop and Maintain Safety SME (5%):
OSHA 30 Hour, Process Safety Bootcamp, and other safety related training to increase knowledge, skills and competencies
Associate Degree in health and Safety discipline; in lieu of Associate degree will consider 5 years safety related work experience or 7 years of Colonial Operations experience with active participation in safety.
3 years of safety related work experience or 5 years of Colonial Operations experience with active participation in safety Preferred
Bachelors' degree in safety related discipline.
Safety certification (OHST, ASP, CSP, etc)
OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) experience
Colonials Safety Program and Safe Work Practices.
Colonials Incident Investigation Program.
Colonial’s MOC Program. Training programs for Health and Safety

Work is frequently performed in a typical office environment. Work may occasionally require exposure to weather or outside environmental conditions to inspect, audit or validate processes and procedures or respond to health and safety situations. Digital dexterity for operation of calculator, PC keyboard and mouse. Physical ability to respond to emergency situations.
