We are searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to oversee and develop all aspects of cost effective EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) related activities in support of the Companies policies and values. Continuously drive a safe working environment and safety culture for all associates and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local safety and environmental regulations. Requirements: Creative, self-motivated, results oriented, and can form and sustain positive working relationships with all levels of the organization. Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, engineering, or other related technical field. Board certified ASP, OHST, CSP, QEP, CIH and/or Industrial Hygienist preferred. Bilingual–English/Spanish Preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills particularly the ability to translate highly technical information to a non-technical audience. Excellent management skills, and the ability to prioritize and multitask. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access. Budgeting and planning skills. Environment: Non-temperature controlled factory environment. Some job related stress due to required deadlines for production and shipping schedules. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Plans, organizes and drives the environmental, health, and safety management systems and continuous improvement activities. 2. Plans and controls budgeted EHS expenditures always seeking ways to cut spending without sacrificing the quality or effectiveness of EHS programs. 3. Performs safety audits as required. 4. Measures and openly reports on EHS performance metrics. Prepares and submits all required environmental reports in a timely manner. 5. Develops and maintains EHS-related written programs/policies/procedures, including but not limited to: Lockout-Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Mobile Equipment, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication, Waste Management, Spill Response, Storm Water, etc. Determines PPE and safety requirements through creation of Job Safety Analysis. 6. Effectively manages all EHS-related cases, including incident investigation, corrective actions, documentation, and reporting to internal/external parties as appropriate. 7. Manages the worker’s compensation program including completion of OSHA logs and related postings. 8. Determines the needs and interests of other departments, and work with those departments to achieve mutually acceptable results. 9. Integrates EHS needs with other departments. Assists Human Resources in new employee orientation process and injured employee return-to-work program. 10. Supervises the maintenance of all safety data sheet system (SDS’s) to ensure they are up-to-date and readily accessible at all times. 11. Maintains employee industrial hygiene (IH) monitoring and related records. 12. Develops safety materials for toolbox meetings and classroom/hands-on training. Develops annual training plans based on the needs of each department. 13. Manages all sites compliance with all applicable safety and environmental company policies, regulations and/or permits to minimize risks to employees and the organization. 14. Ensures the facility remains in compliance with OSHA, Federal and EPA regulations, City of Dallas, Dallas County and Texas regulations, as well as Company standards. 15. Ensures all required reports are submitted to meet Company and government (EPA, OSHA, etc.) requirements. 16. Writes articles for the employee newsletter, as applicable. 17. Ensures all required documentation is accurate and properly maintained to remain in compliance with regulatory requirements. 18. Performs Job Safety Analysis’ to determine proper safety requirements as well as determining PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements as needed. 19. Leads and facilitates safety council and safety committee and related activities including minutes and corrective action documentation and works with the Production Manager and Facility Managers/supervisors to achieve facility and company objectives. 20. Develops and maintains safety programs to ensure objectives are met, including implementation of planned facility and equipment inspections. 21. Delivers or assists with New Hire Safety/Risk Training, annual Risk/ Safety training, remedial Safety Training, First Aid/CPR and AED training. 22. Coordinates job hazard assessments and recommends measures to control exposures, including substitution of less hazardous materials, use of PPE (personal protective equipment), work practice changes and engineering controls. 23. Serves on and coordinates the facility’s Emergency Action Team and maintains an updated Emergency Action Plan. 24. Trains associates, supervisors, and managers in the proper methods of incident investigation to determine root causes of loss, safety inspections, report formats and compliance with safety laws and regulations. 25. Implements security strategies including monitoring and reviewing CCTV and other security systems. 26. Assists in managing contracted security guard performance, ensure adherence to Company standards. • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written. • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to proofread numerical information to spot errors. • Strong attention to detail. • Perform research to assure tool crib items are purchased at a competitive cost. • Ability to perform work activities in a self-directed manner. • Initiative, self-confidence, desire to learn, critical thinking, judgment, attention to detail, collaboration, drive for change, integrity, honesty, ethics and vision.
