Red-D-Arc, a division of Airgas, is currently searching for a Field Safety Manager to bring a fresh approach to driving a safety culture. You will own the rollout of our safety program for your designated branches and associates. This will involve learning the business and determining how Safety can tailor the approach to the business. The incumbent will work hand in hand with the business to drive a safety culture through fresh ideas, best practices and the ability to positively influence all levels of associates. In terms of the core functions, you will also be responsible for: First and foremost, to drive safety awareness and build a safety culture! To oversee the consistent execution of our safety training for new Drivers, including Smith System\u00a9 training and DOT regulatory training. There is also a strong focus on train the trainer, in order to make the local Branch Managers more self-sufficient. To ensure we maintain full DOT and OSHA compliance, through effective training and leadership. To take the lead on all accident and incident investigations, with an emphasis on identifying lessons learned. Overall responsibilities include: Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and procedures that will reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries and vehicle accidents. Lead your assigned Branches Managers and Associates to drive the development of a safety culture and continuous improvement. Provide environmental, health, and safety expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policy. Perform periodic safety and compliance audits for your Branches and on occasion at customer sites. Participate in additional audits conducted by Corporate Safety or other 3rd parties. These audits are NOT to be punitive, but to help the Branch implement improvements. Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safety practices and to promote safety consciousness. Compiles and submits accident and other reports required by Airgas, Third-party administrators and regulatory agencies. Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Maintains safety files and records, DOT files and reports, Training files (Airgas U, etc.) and SafeCor Reports (accident and month end) Assures compliance with all DOT safety regulations. Promotes a collective and positive safety attitude by providing leadership by example. Qualifications: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Safety preferred, Occupational Health, Environmental Sciences or a related field. 5 years related experience strongly preferred, within an industrial and distribution setting. An equivalent combination of education and industry experience will be considered. Possesses a thorough knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations. You MUST be a people person and have the ability to quickly and effectively build relationships across all levels. This includes the ability to positively influence your business. Ability to think big-picture in order to develop the strategy and plans necessary to create a Safety Culture. Ability to make critical decisions while balancing company procedures. Ability to travel 75% of the time. Ability to work \u201con call\u201d 24\/7 for emergencies. Ability to physically navigate industrial settings, including oil refineries. This can include climbing ladders, amongst others. Ability to act proactively or provide a solution with work-related problems. Ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds. Communicates with clarity, verbally in one on one or group situations, and over the telephone. Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of programs, including Word\u00ae, PowerPoint\u00ae and Excel\u00ae. Experience in Access\u00ae is a plus.
