The Polymer Chemistry Business Unit has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate professional to assume the role of Health, Safety, and Security Manager
located in Pasadena, TX. This position will lead the environmental, health, and safety program within a mid-sized chemical processing plant; must be well-versed in regulatory requirements and reporting standards for chemical spills, employee exposure, and incident management. You will provide management direction and support in overseeing the Health, Safety and Security of all employees at the site, coordinating Responsible Care© activities and interfacing with the community.
The Pasadena site manufactures organic peroxides which are sold to major manufacturers of thermoplastic resins such as PVC, LDPE, polypropylene, EPS and acrylic resins. Organic Peroxide products are hazardous, mainly due to temperature controlled transportation and handling. The Pasadena site also manufactures thermoset and crosslinking peroxides, as well as toll produces optical monomers.

Conduct and insure inspection of plant facilities are complete, unsafe acts, fire protection, first aid equipment, security etc.
Act as the internal safety expert and partner with production teams and management to monitor and improve safe operations.
Coordinate site health, safety and security training activities and conducts training as needed.
Is the Responsible Care© Management Representative and will manage all appropriate Responsible Care© activities.
Investigate major incidents and accidents.
Communicates and coordinates with local and federal agencies relating to health, safety and security laws, and regulations.
Represent the Company in local, state and federal organizations, act as community interface.
Coordinate site Risk Insurance audits and deal with legal issues related to workman’s compensation and health, safety and security areas.
Coordinates emergency response training and activities.
Support the effective implementation of the corrective Action Process as defined in 14-QA-002
Other duties and assignments as directed by Site Director.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemistry, Safety, Environmental Science or equivalent.
Experience within a chemical processing plant
where hazardous chemicals are handled, stored, and transported frequently.
in a similar position with responsibility for team member safety, regulatory compliance and reporting, and operational excellence with regard to regulatory requirements.
Working knowledge of plant processes. Specifics can be learned
Able to work in chemical plant environment
Must be able to wear respirator
Able to read, write and communicate in English
Strong communication, teamwork and planning skills
Must be able to wear steel toed shoes and hard hat when going into the plants
Must be able to walk around plant and climb ladders, stairs, etc.
