Responsibilities
You will investigate workplaces, facilities, and operation mishaps by obtaining statements from witnesses or taking photographs of mishap scene.
You will research and analyze increased risk and high hazard operations and systems to implement strategies for safety instructions on applicable mishap prevention measures.
You will advise leadership on work hazard analysis, environmental issues, system safety regulations, occupational health, and administrative safety matters to improve operations.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-4) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Identifying and mitigating hazards in the workplace; 2) compiling reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software; 3) presenting briefings to upper management. (Note: Experience must be in scientific or technical work that provided an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the safety and occupational health field. Creditable general experience must demonstrate the achievement of knowledge equivalent to a degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology).
OR
have successfully completed a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
I possess a certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination.
OR
have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing guidance on Safety and Occupational Health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices and procedures to advise personnel; 2) Participating as a member of a survey or inspection team led by a higher graded specialist to learn the techniques of hazard identification; and 3) Reviewing past inspection records of mishaps to prevent unsafe acts or work practices.

have successfully completed one full year of graduate level education in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
