Global Environmental, Health and Safety Leader \r
Description: Owens & Minor Surgical and Infection Prevention business is seeking an experienced professional to provide environmental, health and safety leadership for our global operations. The role will be based in Alpharetta, Georgia.Position Summary:This key position provides environmental, health and safety (EHS) leadership and technical guidance to OMI’s global business to eliminate injuries, illnesses and losses; to ensure compliance with environmental regulations; and to enhance the enterprise’s competitive position and overall reputation. The incumbent in this role leads the development and execution of OMI’s EHS strategies and initiatives.The position provides significant human and financial value to OMI by contributing to the reduction of occupational injuries & illnesses and their associated losses as well as driving continuous improvement in the areas of environmental compliance and sustainability. The incumbent works closely with senior management and EHS practitioners of all Health Care global facilities.Scope: The incumbent reports to the Global Product Supply Strategy Director. The job will require significant travel - approximately 25 -35%.The position is responsible for overseeing and supporting the environmental, health and safety processes in all of OMI’s facilities around the globe. The EHS practitioners in each facility have a dotted line reporting relationship to this position. In addition, the incumbent must liaise with the government agencies (when applicable) and industrial and professional associations.Key Responsibilities: Provides leadership by establishing a clear and compelling EHS vision, strategy, objectives, scorecard and work plan for OMI.Works with manufacturing and non-manufacturing sites to develop and execute a comprehensive EHS process and management system. Evaluates and provides input on organizational EHS risks and issues, and works to build an agreed consensus to advance EHS initiatives.Monitors OMI’s EHS results to identify trends and to drive and support continuous improvement.Uses a systems approach to develop processes to eliminate, mitigate and respond to potential EHS risks, emergencies, and crisis situations within OMI facilities.Provides technical EHS expertise and knowledge. Develops model EHS programs & ensures that necessary governmental requirements are met.Identifies changes in national and local environmental, health and safety legislation and regulations and develops internal and external networks to identify and share best practices to support the team with enterprise EHS objectives.Ensures compliance at all sites (non-manufacturing and manufacturing) to applicable governmental regulation. Provides guidance and support to all sites in the EHS regulatory area.Continuously improves these systems and processes. Partners with product supply teams to identify, develop, and launch EHS initiatives capable of creating measurable value.Establishes priorities, seeks business alignment and partners with business unit teams. Leverages relationships and influences appropriate corporate, functional, and facility team members for effective execution.Provides technical support for hazardous material issues.Lead development and tracking of Key E&E metrics and standards to align with our corporate sustainability, marketing, R&E and Product Supply teams and communications as necessaryQualifications/Education/Experience Required:The position requires an extensive environmental, health and safety or engineering background with knowledge of EHS laws and regulations, practices, industrial safety technology, risk control technologies, and EHS Management Systems. This level of knowledge is normally gained through an appropriate technical degree, or equivalent health and safety qualifications. The incumbent should be an experienced professional who is able to provide analytical and adaptive thinking in a specialized or technical field. The incumbent must have experience developing and executing EHS requirements across several countries. This experience must include collaboration in the development and execution of an environmental, health and safety management system.\r
Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree from an accredited institution7 year's of experience working in a variety of technical and operations assignments3 years in a permanent assignment at a manufacturing site in a technical role or a supervisory / management role \r
