Profile

This position directs work activities toward establishments and processes that pose the highest risk of causing food-borne illness, provides education and consultation to industry personnel so they understand how the regulatory requirements apply to their operations, and works with department staff to not only correct problems, but help them find ways to prevent recurrence of problems.

The incumbent of this position will assist as a liaison between Division management and field staff as well as between management staff and industry representatives. This position is a principal advisor to division bureau staff in administrative management, meeting strategic planning goals, and evaluation of program effectiveness. The incumbent will also provide input to management staff in development of policy, program initiatives and strategies, and operational procedures. This position coordinates technical assistance, code interpretation, and programmatic guidance to Environmental Health Technical Specialists, Environmental Health Sanitarians, and other Environmental Health Supervisors.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications (Required - Candidates must have experience and/or education relevant to these areas in order to be considered for the position):

1.) Possession of a Registered Sanitarian (RS) or a National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) Registered Environmental Health Specialist credential.

2.) Experience in a team leadership/peer review lead or liaison role

3.) Program or project management experience

A Well Qualified Candidate will also have experience in the following areas:

1.) Experience working in a retail, restaurant, manufactured foods or dairy inspection environment

2.) Licensing systems or process experience

3.) Information technology systems experience

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to a job offer being made.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DATCP sponsorship) at the time of application.

Upon application, applicant must possess a Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian credential or a National Environmental Health Associate Registered Health Specialist credential. It is also required to maintain the credential through the duration of employment within this classification.

Although this is primarily an office based position, occasional work is also completed in the field. Therefore, the incumbent is required to be able to travel occasionally throughout the state, and the position requires flexibility with schedule changes as needed.

Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid driver's license or the ability to provide ones' own transportation for work purposes is also required.
