We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) specialist to join our Corporate Headquarters EHS team. Primary responsibilities include assistance with EHS department recordkeeping and reporting, EHS general duties related to compliance, multi-site support, metrics tracking and Harris best practice management. Additional responsibilities may include job safety assessments, accident investigations, and compliance auditing.
Participates and supports the development, implementation and maintenance of an Environmental Health and Safety Management System that conforms to internal and external standards and requirements.
Assists with environmental, health and safety audits through scheduling, recordkeeping and audit preparation and performance. Analyzes and interprets results, recommends appropriate corrective actions, communicates results and drives issues or concerns to completion.
Assists occupational health staff with workers compensation recordkeeping, scheduling, supply inventory and other duties related to support of Harrisâ€™ workers compensation program.
Assists in development and implementation of proactive risk reduction programs to prevent injuries and risk.
Prepares and assists with reports/presentations based on company metrics, training sessions or other EHS related topics.
Ensures all required changes to policies, procedures and trainings are completed and communicated to affected users.
Assists site with solid, hazardous, and universal waste management programs and activities, including the labeling, accumulation, preparation of waste containers and paperwork for off-site transportation emergency planning, reporting, and training of affected employees.
Assists with sustainability efforts in line with corporate expectations including waste minimization, energy/carbon reduction efforts, water reduction efforts and wastewater minimization.
Educates, motivates and trains line supervision and production personnel in EHS requirements. Ensures site personnel who require 3 rd party training/certification are identified and complete requisite trainings.
Regularly communicates management of overall EHS compliance within Harris Corporation, including outstanding issues, progress on closing gaps, and general areas of weakness. Analyzes data and prepares standard and other requested reports.
Maintains current awareness of applicable federal, state and local and corporate EHS requirements through participation in professional organizations, professional education and training programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BS or higher degree in related Environmental, Science, or Engineering field.
0 to 2 years of EHS experience
Knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent and effective written/verbal, communication and organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, maintain flexibility, and work independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products at an advanced level.
