Manage the Cupertino Electric, Inc. health and safety program for high voltage electrical substation, transmission and distribution at the field project level. This position will require the safety professional to provide site safety training for all employees as well as provide technical and safety support for the project leadership. Ability develop a high quality site safety program and an injury free work environment is a must have for this position.
Essential Job Functions under general and/or remote supervision:
Ø Provide general safety training to all personnel at the site and maintain training records that ensures compliance with OSHA and Department of Labor & Industry as well as all local and customer requirements.
Ø Sound knowledge of OSHA/Title 8 in the state of California as well as applicable consensus standards such as ASTM, ANSI and NESC.
Ø Support site leadership after incidents and/or near miss by using proven investigative skills to gather all the facts in a logical and sequential manner.
Ø Assist leadership in developing all causal factors for all Near Miss and other incidents.
Ø Develop corrective actions for each causal factor utilizing the Hierarchy of Controls.
Ø Be the voice for safety during all project planning meetings and provide the site leadership the safety support to make the safe decision.
Ø Assist in the development of Job Hazard Analyses and mitigation strategy that will prevent the opportunity for injury.
Ø Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks and compliance auditing.
Ø Provide coaching and mentoring to the site leadership that enables them to correct employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors, and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors.
Ø Provide regular feedback to project leadership in a constructive manner on need areas for safety improvement and recognition.
Ø Meet regularly with the field personnel and assist them in the development of project-specific corrective action plans to address safety issues.
Ø Collaborate with other safety professionals on the overall jobsite to discuss incident and near miss incidents and prevention measures throughout the site.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Ø 2 or 4 year college degree or requisite field safety experience.
Ø Electric Utility lines experience.
Ø Journeyman Lineman experience preferred.
Ø 5 years of experience in field safety management or similar role.
Ø Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with ability to influence behaviors in both leadership and field personnel.
Ø Safety certification, such as CSP or OSHA 30 is desired.
Ø Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) preferred
