Environmental Health & Safety Specialist\rSummary: \rDevelops, implements and maintains environmental health and safety programs to ensure programs meet or exceed applicable legislation, regulations, by-laws and company directives\rJob Duties: \r\rDevelopment, implementation and maintenance of the Health & Safety Systems.\rEvaluating effectiveness on a continuous basis, identifying areas for improvement, corrective actions and follow up.\rDevelopment, implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Safety Systems.\rEvaluating effectiveness on a continuous basis, identifying areas for improvement, corrective actions and follow up.\rIdentifies the need for continuous improvement and champions change to policies, procedures and engineering controls to ensure compliance with environmental, health & safety regulations and to avoid hazards to employees, visitors, contractors or the general public.\rPromote awareness of environmental, health and safety issues and employee wellness initiatives through interactive employee engagement, employee training, and outside resource material and publications.\rMaintains and recommends improvement to performance measurable for environmental, health & safety. \rReports on performance of measurable to Leadership.\rProvides expertise to Leadership teams with in the development of improvement action plans, setting objectives, monitoring progress, establishing policies and procedures.\rMaintains management systems in accordance with the registered standards including ISO 14001\rCoordinates the development of environmental, health and safety training and education programs.\rDelivers training to employees.\rPrepares documentation for environmental and safety authorities, as required.\rParticipates in budgeting process, administers the environmental and safety budget, monitoring and controlling expenditures.\rMaintains a variety of manual and electronic files and databases.\rEnsure that files and records are securely stored and available as needed for review by internal and external parties\rEnsure that information required to be posted by the OSHA and MIOSHA management system and company directives are posted in the plants.\r
Qualifications:\r\r• Degree/ Certificate in a related field\r• Minimum of 5-8 years related work\r• Professional Safety Certification would be an asset\r• Familiarity and knowledge of all applicable occupational safety and environmental legislation\r• Proficient computer skills in MS Office\r• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, presentation, listening and high level of writing skills necessary to produce and provide information to individuals, teams and customers\r• Demonstrated strong organizational, planning and priority setting skills to complete multiple tasks and projects\r• Experience in developing and implementing management systems\r• Internal auditing and/or compliance auditing experience\r• Experience in metal fabrication including CNC machining environment is an asset\r5-8 yrs
