We are seeking a Director for our Environmental Health and Safety Department located in Mattawan, MI.
The Director of Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs to ensure the environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance of the facility and the Safety Assessment business. The individual in this role also collaborates on the development and implementation of both corporate and site initiatives.
The following are the minimum requirements related to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety position.
Bachelor’s degree in scientific area (i.e. engineering, chemistry, biology) or related discipline with five to seven years of related experience and in-depth knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Demonstrated knowledge of process safety and risk assessment tools and techniques (i.e.FMEA, HAZOP, What-if, etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge of incident command organizational structure/operation.
Chemical Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM), and Occupational Health is preferred.
Sound working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and government regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
Ability to communicate and influence senior management on EHS compliance initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice.
Ability to work under specific time constraints.
