The Health & Safety Coordinator oversees employee health and safety around the resort. This position works closely with Human Resources, Risk Management, and Guest Services.
Develop and implement employee health and safety programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry management practices.
Update and publish Resort Safety Manual
Develop and implement a Resort Supervisor Safety Leadership Program.
Coordinate all mandatory health and safety trainings.
Champion employee-management, safety, environment, and wellness Committee (SEW).
Partner with Human Resources to develop and hone employee wellness programs.
Identify training requirements by job position and establish a training calendar and recordkeeping program for the resort.
Oversee the administration of the worker’s compensation program.
Maintain VOSHA record keeping and filing requirements.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college, Occ Health and Safety degree preferred. Ability to read, analyze and interpret data. Ability to write reports for the executive level. Ability to effectively present information in front of large groups. Must possess valid driver’s license with clean record. Must have intermediate skiing/riding ability, able to pass annual ski/ride evaluation and equipment safety tests. Must be proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office Programs.
Work is primarily indoors, however some outdoor work will be required in all seasons and weather conditions, including some skiing/riding for work. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Must be available 24/7 for emergencies. Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, radio, and in person.
