The HSSE Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining the HSSE systems for the PHI-Seagoville facility. Candidates must have proven leadership skills, experience in creating a strong safety culture, knowledge of safety gemba walks, experience with hands-on environmental assessments, and profound knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and other legal requirements.
Create ways to keep workers and the general public safe from harm by working with peers to identify and resolve unsafe acts and conditions.
Design safe work spaces.
Inspect machines and test for faults.
Remove defective equipment.
Test air quality.
Reduce absenteeism and equipment downtime.
Lower insurance premiums and workers' compensation payments.
Prevent government fines.
Conduct safety inspections.
Design programs to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
Search for and identify biological, chemical, and radiological hazards.
Advise workers on proper lifting techniques.
Inform an organization's management of areas not in compliance with State and Federal laws or employer policies and lead to resolution.
Advise management on the cost and effectiveness of safety and health programs.
Devise and implement health programs.
Provide training on new regulations.
Demonstrate how to recognize hazards.
Develop methods to predict hazards.
Evaluate current equipment, products, facilities, or processes and those planned for future use through a Management of Change process.
Uncover patterns in injury data.
Evaluate the probability and severity of accidents.
Write accident reports.
Incorporate new HSSE regulations, directives and standards into the management systems of the plant.
Conduct and follow up on incident/accident investigation through the OSHEN system, corporate audit actions, and compliance inspection actions.
Support behavioral based safety programs processes.
Conduct internal HSSE auditing to ensure compliance.
Interact with production and maintenance team to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. Train, audit, instruct, and correct where necessary.
Chair, conduct, and report on the actions of the Plant Safety Committee.
Prepare necessary air, water, waste streams, and solid waste management activities and disposal permits.
Manage and coordinate Safety Training for the entire facility.
Ensure that Federal, State, and local HSSE laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed and adhered to.
Minimum AS/AAS degree (or equivalent) with classes in biology, chemistry, physics, math. College education with a bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific field, such as biology, chemistry or engineering highly desired. Strong competency with Microsoft Office tools. Excellent verbal, written, and oral presentation skills in the English language required, with Spanish proficiency preferred. Additional certifications and training in Safety, Environmental Compliance, and related fields highly desired. Must have CPR/First Aid Certification, or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
