 The EHS Specialist will lead various assignments and projects in support of plant safety and environmental goals. This role will work with various programs and policies, research a variety of EHS related components, participate in and lead various programs to assist in achieving our vision of Zero Harm.

 How you will do it


Engaging the work force, both salary and hourly, to drive cultural change and accomplish safety performance objectives and targets.
Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and JCI corporate safety systems.
Reviewing planned changes and new equipment installations. Approves or recommends changes in manufacturing and engineering matters of plant layout, location/relocation of machinery, equipment, facilities, safety designs, and processes.
Supporting property risk by partnering with Facilities in insuring compliance with FM Global assessments and routinely touring the property and conducting inspections to ensure compliance.
Maintaining and improving the corporate environmental management system.  Collect environmental data for use in determining root-causes of compliance problems and pollution prevention opportunities.  Implement proactive corrective steps.
With a Thorough understanding of EPA requirements, must complete and submit applicable environmental reports in a timely fashion (such as Tier II, TRI Form R, Generator’s Residual Waste, Waste-Water Self-Monitoring, and Air Emissions Inventory).
Is instrumental in the administration, implementation and compliance with the ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
Oversees hazardous and non-hazardous waste program.  This includes ensuring the correct handling, packaging, labeling, storage and transportation of waste to approved treatment and/or disposal facilities.  
Coordinates air emission, wastewater, storm water, and waste auditing and testing.
Presents safety and environmental training programs to workers and supervisors. Some standardized materials will be made available, and development of site-specific training materials will be required.
Utilizes knowledge of health and safety engineering processes and practices to identify and mitigate hazards and risks.
Possesses background of OSHA standards, compliance reporting requirements, other applicable regulatory requirements.
Has experience with high hazard controls in manufacturing, and possesses skills necessary to be an safety SME for one or more of the following: cranes and rigging, electrical/Arc Flash, fall protection, and/or welding.
Conducts research in order to apply the best industrial and working practices.
Identifies and evaluates unsafe practices to address root cause in the mitigation of hazard and risk.
Leverages technology and forward thinking while leading safety improvement projects.
Possesses knowledge and skills of Lean Manufacturing & Safety Kaizens.
Measures and audits the effectiveness of EHS hazard control programs.


What we look for


Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science or engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment required. 
US Safety certification preferred such as CSP.
Working knowledge and experience with SafeStart, STOP or other behavior-based safety program preferred.
Effective and professional communication and organization skills
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload with strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Specialized safety training and certification from a recognized institute will have an added advantage.
